Bengals release Giovani Bernard

In a shocking move on Wednesday morning, the Bengals announced they released RB Giovani Bernard.

For the city and the fans, this is a heartbreaker. Gio was everything you wanted as a football player on and off the field. He gave us everything he had every time he stepped foot on the field.

The team approached Bernard about restructuring his contract and in turn, Bernard asked for his release. His wish was granted. The move will save the team 4.1 million in cap space, which may in turn lead to the team being more willing to spend on some of the remaining free agents.

Bernard shouldn’t have much trouble finding another good place to call home rather soon.
